Blog prompt #12 media arts
Media is such a broad term. For this blog’s purpose let’s limit it to using technology (computers, phones, apps, software) in the classroom. Discuss how you might incorporate Media Arts into your curriculum. Would you want Photoshop or other Adobe software? If so, for what purpose. If not, then what other software, programs, etc. would you
want to use? Would you create a specialized
class for media or would it be included in
your regular curriculum. What are some lesson
ideas that you’ve come across or been
exposed to that you think would be ideal?
One of my lessons from college when I was in graphic design studios we had to learn how to draw font styles to somehow hon in on the skills and precision that fonts impact has on a product.
Another lesson had us combining one type font to make an animal. My animal was a turtle that I really enjoyed making.
I would do adobe illustrator over adobe photoshop first just because of my courses I've taken in graphic design. More specifically illustrator and logo design. I would have the students design a logo of their own and then as a class we study why logos are effective.
Why is your logo your style? why is your logo made that way?
I would make a specialized class if it can consist of Illustrator, stationary designs, business cards. How you could sell your product, imaging, and so on. I would like a media class that can brand oneself. If the course isn't about selling your design then to have lesson designs to help with Film, software design, gaming, animation and so on.
